Employee Spotlight: Adrian Ortega — Elevating the Patient Experience in Iwakuni, Japan

Since joining Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU) Iwakuni, Adrian G. Ortega has quickly made a remarkable impact on both patients and the health care team he supports.

Serving under Goldbelt Glacier’s Allied Health Japan contract, led by Program Manager Jen Juliano, Adrian brings enthusiasm, professionalism, extensive pharmacy knowledge, and a genuine commitment to patient care to his role each day. His team-first mentality has made him a valued member of the pharmacy and helped create a more positive and seamless experience for patients receiving their medications. His impact is reflected directly in patient feedback.

One patient recognized him for his exceptional service, writing, “Adrian’s above-and-beyond attitude helped alleviate another problem in my day. This is how health care should be!”

Among clinic staff, Adrian has become known as the friendly and professional face at the pharmacy window, and the results speak for themselves. Prior to his arrival, the pharmacy maintained an 88% approval rating through the Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) system. Within Adrian’s first two months on board, the pharmacy has maintained a 100% approval rating.

Adrian’s dedication also earned him recognition as the Most Valuable Person (MVP) in the clinic’s ICE Comment Challenge, awarded to the individual receiving the greatest number of positive patient comments.

Adrian exemplifies the level of service that Goldbelt Glacier strives to provide across its healthcare programs: knowledgeable, dependable, mission-focused, and centered on the people we serve.

We are proud to have Adrian representing Goldbelt Glacier at NMRTU Iwakuni and grateful for the meaningful difference he continues to make for patients, colleagues, and the military healthcare community in Japan.
