Douglas King Joins the Goldbelt Tram as the New General Manager

Douglas King was hired as the new General Manager for the Goldbelt Tram on October 1. King comes to the Goldbelt Tram with over 30 years of experience in Tourism and Hospitality, most recently returning from Grenada where he served as the General Manager for a five-star Plantation Resort. In regard to his new position with the Tram, King says, “I feel both privileged and excited to be both a part of the Goldbelt family as well as the Tram Team and look forward to meeting and supporting all of our guests in the upcoming season and beyond.”

“We’re thrilled to have Douglas join the team,” said Steven Sahlender, Vice President of the Alaska Group. “Douglas was able to come up for the last week of the season to get a sense of the operation and he hit the ground running. The team is excited to have some fresh leadership and a new perspective.”

King’s history includes consultant and management of five-star lodges, resorts, and hotels as well outdoor adventure companies, and has worked globally in Africa, the South Pacific, Asia, The Caribbean, and the Middle East and has a Bachelor’s in Business and International Tourism.

The Goldbelt Tram’s last day of operation of the summer season is October 20. The Goldbelt Tram’s Timberline atop Mount Roberts restaurant has a brand-new menu and beverages brewed locally in Juneau.
