Goldbelt owns approximately 1,600 acres of coastal lands on the west side of Douglas Island from Outer Point to south of Point Hilda.  A number of development ideas have surfaced but to date, all have been hampered by the lack of road access, lack of a second channel crossing, or both.  Goldbelt continues to advocate for both, as have several groups and organizations including the City and Borough of Juneau.  During the last legislative session, a bill was passed authorizing use of funding that previously had been set aside for dredging of Gastineau Channel.
